Girl group BLACK PINK’s music video for “How You Like That” has surpassed 1.1 billion views on YouTube. As announced by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” music video hit 1.1 billion views as of May 30 at approximately 4:51 p.m. KST.

This means the MV for “How You Like That” took about a year and 11 months after its initial release on June 26, 2020. “How You Like That” itself is now the group’s fifth music video to reach this milestone, after “DDU-DU DD- DU”, “Kill This Love”, “BOOMBAYAH” and “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST”. This is also their sixth YouTube video in total, as their “How You Like That” performance video surpassed 1 billion views in February and currently has over 1.12 billion views.

“How You Like That” itself was a commercial success in South Korea and peaked at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart for three weeks, marking BLACKPINK’s third number one single in the country. The song also topped the national charts in Hungary, Singapore, and Malaysia as well as Billboard’s K-pop Hot 100 and World Digital Songs, and has charted on record charts in 26 other countries. The song went platinum in South Korea for streaming as well as gold in Canada and Japan and silver in the UK, while the album version also went platinum in South Korea as it sold over 250,000 units.

The accompanying music video for the song was directed by Seo Hyun Seung and uploaded to BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel at the same time as the single’s release. Upon release, the music video broke several YouTube records, including for most-viewed premiere, most views in 24 hours for a music video garnering 86.3 million views in that time and for the fastest surpassing 100 million and 200 million views, respectively. It has also become one of the most liked videos on YouTube with more than 20 million likes. “How You Like That” won many awards, including the Song of Summer at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards and the Best Dance Award for girl group at the 2020 Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Seoul.
