Japanese Society For Rights Of Authors, Composers, And Publishers (JASRAC) Releases Winners List ‘2020 JASRAC Awards’ And BTS Takes Home ‘Foreign Work Award’.
Recently the boy band Bangtan Boys aka BTS has once again added another award to their record and proved its popularity. Because on May 18, the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers (JASRAC) released the list of winners of the “2020 JASRAC Awards” and BTS took home the “Foreign Work Award” for their digital single “Dynamite”.
BTS is the only foreign artist to be named. Gold, silver, bronze and international awards are mostly awarded to Japanese works. Works from previous years are also selected as winning works depending on the royalties on the work.
Meanwhile, “Dynamite” is a disco-pop song that was released in 2020 and sends a message of hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic. BTS topped the US Billboard Hot 100 with this song. At the “Grammy Awards 2021”, they were the first Korean pop singers to be nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance”.
It also received a warm response in Japan. On Billboard Japan, the cumulative number of views has surpassed 600 million. It managed to obtain the “Diamond” certification from the Recording Association of Japan in no time.
Meanwhile, BTS will soon make a comeback by releasing an anthology album titled “Proof” which is scheduled for release on June 10 with “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)” as the main single. BTS also continued their winning streak at the annual 2022 Billboard Music Awards, winning an additional 3 awards, bringing their total Billboard Music Awards to 12 wins, making them the most-awarded group in show history, after their first win in 2017.
