SEOUL September 10 (Korea Bizwire) – The K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK has become the world’s leading artist in terms of the number of subscribers on YouTube, the band’s label announced on Friday.
The quartet’s YouTube channel had more than 65.2 million subscribers at 2:42 p.m. (Korean time) and dethroned Canadian singer Justin Bieber, according to YG Entertainment.
“It’s unbelievable. This is a miraculous moment made possible by Blink”, BLACKPINK was quoted by the label with reference to the group’s fan club. “We will continue to be artists who give positive energy through good music and videos.”
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK has gained millions of subscribers after the release of every new song, with the release of member Lisa’s debut solo album on Friday adding to the recent surge.
The number 1 record comes about five years and three months after the channel opened on June 28, 2016.
BLACKPINK has 29 videos on YouTube with more than 100 million views each, with the total views of all videos approaching the 20 billion mark.
